Laura McClure is the editor of IDEO and a national award-winning magazine journalist. A former staff writer/editor at Salon.com and Mother Jones, she has coached dozens of writers and covered topics ranging from toy design to the Congo. Her tenure as Motherjones.com editor was marked by an award-winning education series, a tripling of digital traffic, two National Magazine Awards for General Excellence, and the creation of a top politics podcast and successful new media brand. Laura is a web-native magazine editor who first learned to love code while working at Salon.com as an award-winning News/Politics writer and staff editor. She is also a SXSW Interactive speaker, USC Annenberg Health Journalism social media trainer, International Reporting Project Editor (Liberia) former Peace Corps Volunteer (Togo), and alumna of Carnegie Mellon University. Currently she lives with her husband and two young sons in San Francisco.
